Craft Project

Updated: Mar 31, 2019

This ministry helps ladies earn money so they can buy food and other necessities for their families.  This also gives them the opportunity to hear the Gospel, and some for the first time, hear that God loves them. This craft project is one of our mission ministries to share the Gospel with the Roma people who are precious in the sight of God.

Handbag made by the Roma ladies

Our handbags and other crafts are made by Roma ladies in a (Gypsy) village in northwestern Romania.  These handbags are made from vintage material that was woven on traditional wooden hand looms by Romanian families during the Communist era, 1942-1989.  The Roma ladies of this village have learned to do embroidery, crocheting and to use sewing machines and to weave on a traditional wooden hand loom.

Craft ladies from summer 2018

The Roma ladies of this village have learned to do embroidery and crocheting, as well as how to weave on a traditional wooden hand loom. Many of them also now know how to use sewing machines to stitch the handbags that they make.
